General Summary (What is done and why)

The Human Resources Generalist provides overall primary support for Human Resources Department, handling a variety of HR tasks and projects as assigned. This may include, but is not limited to, operational tasks and initiatives in the areas of: HR Administration, Employee Relations, Regulatory Compliance, Diversity/Equity/Inclusion (DEI), Onboarding, Benefits and Leaves of Absence Administration, Reporting and Analysis, Employee Engagement, Total Rewards, and Talent/Performance Management. A high degree of personal organization, broad foundational knowledge of HR, and effective communication are required. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change are also needed, as duties may change to suit business needs.

Essential Functions (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)


  1. Assist with implementing and supporting employee onboarding, engagement, talent management and retention initiatives and tasks.  This may include supporting survey, reporting and analyses tasks related to such initiatives. 

  2. Conducts HR Administration tasks, including effective use of HR Information Systems (HRIS) in support of employee hiring/onboarding, changes, and terminations. Supports the position management process.  Identifies and implements improvement opportunities HR Administration processes and HRIS usage.

  3. Ensuring compliance with regulations, including but not limited to EEO, AAP, SAFE ACT - NMLS Registration/Renewal, unemployment claims, governmental reports; and local, state, and federal laws. Manage the flow and retention of documents and processes required for regulatory and compliance related to all areas of HR.

  4. Helps staff and management with Employee Relations and Performance Management matters, assisting with investigations, grievance handling, conflict resolution and disciplinary issues.

  5. Acts as a point of contact for employee regarding HR Systems usage, and may help respond to other basic inquiries regarding Onboarding, Benefits, Payroll/Timekeeping or other HR matters as needed.

  6. Serve as backup for other HR staff as needed, helps with HR projects, and completes other duties as assigned.  Duties may vary regularly due to the demands of the business.   

Education (Minimum education required to perform the duties of this position)


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or two years related work experience required.

Experience (Minimum experience required to perform the duties of this position)

In addition to the education requirement:


  • 2 or more years of experience in Human Resources preferred. 

  • 2 years of experience with HR Administration and HRIS desired.

  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR vocational qualification a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Minimum technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position)

Physical Demands (Physical effort generally associated with this position)

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most work is done from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from prolonged work at the computer and reading detailed reports. Deadlines, workloads and pressure to achieve goals may cause increased stress levels.

Working Conditions (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position)

Internal - Work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc).  No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of duties. Length of day is unpredictable; long hours may be required to accommodate deadlines or special meetings.

External - Limited travel may be required; however, information on environmental conditions is not available.
