Recovery & Activities Coordinator (204)

The Recovery and Activities Coordinator is responsible for organizing and leading activities, events, and volunteer opportunities at the wellness center. The role involves supporting the recovery process of participants by facilitating engagement in activities, encouraging community involvement, and providing peer support. The Coordinator will work closely with volunteers and staff to create a supportive and inclusive environment, while maintaining accurate documentation of participant engagement.

How will I contribute
Recruit, organize, and provide ongoing support for volunteers. Offer diverse opportunities for engagement that accommodate varying abilities and interests. Ensure volunteers feel valued and supported in their roles within the wellness center. Model the values and ethics of peer work, fostering an environment of respect, empathy, and inclusivity. Provide peer support to members, particularly in the context of their participation in volunteering and activities. Encourage participants' personal recovery journeys by offering guidance and resources. Plan, organize, and execute events, activities, outings, and celebrations for wellness center members. Develop engaging content for activities and events tailored to participants' interests and recovery needs. Collaborate with other staff to ensure the smooth execution and continuity of all planned activities. Promote and encourage participants involvement in the local community as part of their recovery process. Identify and facilitate opportunities for members to engage with the broader community in a meaningful way. Work closely with the wellness center team to ensure a cohesive approach to participant support. Communicate effectively with staff to coordinate volunteer efforts and participant activities. Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all participant engagement, including volunteer activities and participation in events. Ensure all records meet program standards and are submitted according to deadlines. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program

What I bring
High School Diploma (or Equivalent) Class C Driving License Minimum 2 yrs of experience in peer work. Identify as a person with lived experience with mental health challenges, substance use, foster care, high ACEs score, trauma, intimate partner violence, or living unsheltered. Experience with planning simultaneous community Ability to plan and organize multiple events simultaneously. Understand the use of social media as a means of community engagement. Graphic design, MS Publisher, creating newsletters, calendars and flyers. Take personal responsibility to practice strategies and work-life balance necessary to maintain personal wellness. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes while maintaining healthy emotional regulation. Communicate effectively with consumers and co-workers. Work comfortably with a variety of diversly-abled people. Strong organizational skills and the ability to develop and meet long range goals. Creative event planning, attention to detail and tolerance for working in busy environments. Must be comfortable working with people with diverse abilities and challenges. Creative, flexible, patient, and non-judgmental. Training or certifications in peer support, WRAP, Taking Action for Whole Health and Wellbeing, Mental Health First Aid, WHAM or other peer-led action planning strategies. Proficient with Microsoft Word/Publisher/Outlook/Excel. Event planning. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable with public speaking and working with community partners.
