Position Summary 


The Accountant I is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Expense Recovery Team and continual process improvement. Assist in the preparation and distribution of customer invoices and development of financial and statistical reports.


 


Essential Job Functions



  • Provide support to Senior Staff Accountants, Accounting Manager – Expense Recovery, Billing and Cash Application Manager, Accounts Payable Manager and Assistant Controller in the day-to-day operations of Expense Recovery billings.

  • Complete account reconciliations on a timely basis.

  • Provide excellent customer service through partnership and collaboration, timely follow up and resolution of matters related to pass throughs, which includes addressing issues relating to payments, invoice disputes, utility service issues and general customer communication.

  • Analyze and interpret contracts to evaluate customer compliance related to pass throughs and develop strategies to ensure collections of same.

  • Prepare entries for the general ledger in compliance with established rules and principles of general accounting.

  • Assist in the preparation of Expense Recovery billings as required.



  • Assist in the coordination and preparation for financial audits as required.

  • Assist in documentation and development of department processes.

  • Maintain files and records.


 


Education/Certifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline preferred


 


Experience/Minimum Requirements



  • Two (2) years of related general accounting experience


 


Other Skills/Abilities



  • Working knowledge of computer accounting software, with an emphasis on JD Edwards and Microsoft applications (specifically Microsoft Excel)

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and customer service skills

  • Proven problem-solving ability and be detail oriented

  • Ability to identify and communicate items needing resolution

  • Working knowledge of basic Accounting/Financial principles

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  On Mondays and Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home.  There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
