Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARYThe Logistics Manager at Rhoads Industries is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all logistics and supply chain activities to ensure the efficient movement of goods and materials. This role involves managing tooling, warehousing, inventory control, distribution processes, and the receiving department to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. The Logistics Manager works closely with other departments to optimize logistical efficiency and address any logistical challenges.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLogistics Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies that align with the company’s operational goals and business objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate logistics activities, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Evaluate and optimize efficiency and reduce costs in the tool room and receiving department
Tool Room Management:
  • Oversee all responsibilities associated with the tool room operation including but not limited to maintaining and issuing tools, weld wire, consumables, etc.
  • Coordinate with Operations team to ensure efficient issuance of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain and audit tool inventories. 
  • Develop metrics to properly track efficiency and performance
  • Audit reports, inventories, and other metrics to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations including customer requirements.
  • Oversee the calibration department to ensure tools and equipment are properly and timely calibrated and maintained.
Receiving Department Management:
  • Oversee all responsibilities associated with the receiving department.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure proper inspection of received materials.
  • Develop policies and procedures to increase the efficiency of orders getting to their final destination.
  • Manage and maintain the receiving log to track all receivables and work with the purchasing and Accounts Payable departments to process orders in a timely manner.
Customer Management:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support logistics objectives.
  • Be familiar and understand customer requirements with the ability to challenge customer requirements when necessary.
  • Address customer inquiries and issues related to logistics and delivery.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Work with customer service teams to resolve any logistics-related problems.
Warehouse Management:
  • Supervise warehouse operations, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and storage.
  • Implement best practices for warehouse layout, organization, and safety.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient handling of incoming and outgoing shipments.
Inventory Control:
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Implement inventory control measures to reduce discrepancies and improve accuracy.
  • Coordinate with procurement and production teams to align inventory levels with demand.
Shipping Coordination:
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments to support product ship outs.
  • Address and resolve any issues related to shipment disruptions or delays.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support logistics objectives.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Track and analyze logistics performance metrics, including delivery times, cost efficiency, and service levels.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on logistics performance to senior management.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including transportation, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures within the logistics department.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance and address any issues.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Manage and mentor Tool and Receiving staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Promote professional development and continuous improvement within the logistics team.
Technology and Systems:
  • Utilize logistics software and technology to optimize operations and improve visibility.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of logistics systems and tools.
  • Evaluate new technologies and systems to enhance logistics processes.
  EDUCATION: 
  • Required: Associates degree in Applied Sciences, Logistics, or equivalent
  EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 years of previous experience at Rhoads Industries or in a similar environment
 QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Able to track and monitor supply chain related to company needs
  • Communicate with diverse personalities in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to communicate requirements in an industrial environment, and to give effective direction by using written and/or verbal skills where appropriate.
  • Mature Customer Service and Client Communications skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile.
  • May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.
