This is a support role for engineering, with manufacturing and new product development exposure. You will interact with managers, project leaders, engineers on a daily basis.
THE DAY TO DAY…
Support engineering staff by performing basic engineering assignments in the design and development of crane control systems.
This can involve participation with planning, technology research, functional design, prototyping, product/component testing, etc.
In this internship you will gain experience with multiple engineering roles such as Application, Electrical, Hydraulic, Quality / Reliability, Structural, Supply Chain and Test / PVC – Product Verification Center,

Work with niche applications such as Lift Solutions
Work in Truck Mod Center learning truck chassis interfacing
Design weldments for Truck Mod
Perform structural analysis on weldments that are designed.
Electrical or Hydraulic Controls
3D cad package experience
Basic knowledge of Electrical or Hydraulic Schematics
Basic knowledge of Elecrical/Electronic or Hydraulic Test Equipment
Basic ability to format and analyze results of Data Acquisition tests.
Ability to parse, organize and create test reports from collected data.
Motivated and self – starter
Quality / Reliability Engineering
Data analytics (warranty analysis/failure trends)
Supplier follow-up support (researching outstanding 8D’s and NCR’s/coordinating supplier responses)
Redesign test plans.
MWI creation
Structural Engineering
Emphasis on design and manufacturing course work. Basic working knowledge of a 3D modeling software, preferably Creo…AND/OR:
Emphasis on structural course work. Basic working knowledge of a FEA program such as ANSYS
Strong hobbies and interests in all things mechanical.
Previous internship working with construction equipment or civil engineering projects like bridges is a plus.
Experience in a test environment, application of strain gages, accelerometers, and other measurement equipment on large steel structures is a plus.
Supply Chain
Support with expediting placed purchase orders to ensure vendor confirmed delivery dates are met, and material is shipped according to Manitowoc need dates.
Ensure suppliers are meeting their targeted Key Performance Indicators metrics.
Work on Materials Procurement Projects
Communicating and coordinating with suppliers
Completing data entry and analysis
Assisting with inventory control
Developing cost-saving measures
Create training documents.
Test / PVC – Product Verification Center
Willingness to perform hands-on mechanical work.
Basic electrical knowledge (specifically DC)
Familiarity with drawings and schematics (hydraulic and electrical)
Ability to spend time working outside.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be enrolled as a student at an accredited university studying toward a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Must have and maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0/4.0
Should be mechanically inclined and have an interest in new product development, construction equipment, and manufacturing.
