POSITION SUMMARY



The Sr. Manager of Commercial Engagement and Communications reports to the head of US Commercial Communications and is a member of the Corporate Affairs Communications and Sustainability Team. This role is responsible for independently managing and leading commercial operations communications for the U.S. Petcare business and U.S. Operations teams.


The position requires strategic thinking, advanced project management skills, and the ability to lead complex projects, drive leadership communications, and engage a large remote workforce. A critical part of this role includes the development of communications plans to achieve business objectives and ensuring alignment with field channels. The incumbent will make decisions that resolve complex problems, often operating independently in ambiguous situations, while being a resource for others in the team.


This role will independently manage and lead commercial operations communications for the U.S. Petcare business and U.S. Operations teams, focusing primarily on executive communications and field force engagement. The Sr. Manager of Commercial Engagement and Communications will have full responsibility for the reference review of corporate materials, ensuring they are strategically staged, filtered, and aligned with field channels. This position will also be empowered to shape and drive leadership communications, working autonomously across the organization to address critical business priorities and proactively influence communication strategies.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES



The Sr. Manager of Commercial Engagement and Communications plays a critical role in shaping the communication strategies that support the U.S. Commercial business and Petcare field teams. This role requires a strategic approach to managing complex projects, developing innovative solutions, and ensuring the achievement of business objectives through leadership and communication expertise. The key responsibilities include:



  • Develop, execute, and maintain communications plans for organizational communications, commercial leadership, colleague engagement, and customer activation opportunities for the U.S. Commercial business. This includes:


    • Leading communications planning for U.S. Petcare business activities, specifically focusing on initiatives aimed at field colleagues and improving field effectiveness.


    • Supporting the Senior Director of U.S. Commercial Communications and the Petcare Executive Team by developing and managing content that drives colleague culture, leadership engagement, and customer outreach. This entails researching, drafting, proof-reading, organizing multimedia assets, and overseeing the distribution of materials for field leadership.









  • Project leadership and complex problem solving: Lead and manage multiple, high-impact communication initiatives. This includes developing innovative strategies that meet the BU's objectives, applying advanced knowledge of communication principles, and leveraging expertise to ensure the success of communication projects. You will operate independently in ambiguous situations, making decisions that directly affect the BU.



  • Lead on design and presentation development for major meetings such as National Sales Meetings (NSM), Plan of Action (POA) sessions, and Managers' meetings, ensuring that communication materials are effectively designed and strategically aligned with business objectives.






  • Partnership with Sales and Marketing: Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing teams to amplify customer and pet owner activation events. These efforts aim to support field-based colleagues by creating incentives for customers and linking local communications opportunities to the field-led representatives. This also includes identifying and executing testimonial initiatives.







  • Team leadership and resource management: As the Sr. Manager, you are responsible for the key milestones and deliverables of the communications team. In addition, you will serve as a resource to other team members, guiding and mentoring them to ensure successful project execution and alignment with business goals.







  • Commercial colleague engagement strategies: Develop and enhance commercial colleague engagement strategies, including Town Halls, recognition programs, and community impact initiatives, to foster an inclusive and productive work environment for our field and sales colleagues.







  • Decision-making and influence: Make key decisions in situations requiring the development of innovative options to resolve complex challenges. You will apply skills and knowledge that enable the business unit to meet its goals, ensuring that your decisions positively impact the overall business performance.



    • KPI development and reporting: Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the U.S. Commercial Communications team, ensuring routine reporting to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.







EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



  • BA/BS in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or similar field


  • 10+ years of professional experience with 5+ years writing experience in corporate or commercial communications.


  • Experience in remote colleague engagement and internal communications is a must.


  • Experience in the planning, development and execution of corporate and organizational communications


  • Skilled in driving colleague engagement, reputation management and project management, driving initiatives from start to finish.


  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills


  • Skilled at multi-tasking and managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


  • Understands and values benchmarking and staying abreast of the latest trends and best practices.


  • Proven vendor management, negotiation, and relationship skills


  • Ability and discretion to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.





TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS



  • Animal health, pharmaceutical or commercial sales team experience


  • 8+ years of professional experience and demonstrated skills in developing, managing, and delivering internal and external communication strategies.


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


  • Ability to work effectively across functions and levels.


  • Ability to synthesize complex and technical information and convert it into clear and concise messages that customers can understand.


  • Experience with communication production including digital, presentations, events, video.


  • Able to work to tight deadlines, manage multiple projects at once, and maintain professionalism under pressure.


  • A drive for results and ability to achieve results through cross-functional teams, leveraging organization resources and exerting influence without direct authority.


  • Self-starter, able to work independently.


  • Strong analytical, planning, attention to detail and prioritizing skills


  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to interact with confidence with various levels and functions.


  • Partner and agency relationship management experience





PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS.



  • Role will be remote work, with travel into Parsippany, NJ as needed.


  • Given the demands of role, hour may require some require flexibility to meet work demands.




The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to
be located in (Colorado). Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.


Base Pay Range: $123,00-$177,000


The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in (California), (NJ Remote), (NY Remote), or (Washington). Base pay may vary based on location and
other factors.


Base Pay Range: $139,00-$200,000
