We seek a highly skilled Controller to join our team and serve as our internal CFO, overseeing all financial accounting functions.The Controller will be responsible for the financial health of the company, providing strategic financial guidance and ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing the day-to-day financial operations, offering insightful analysis to support business decisions, and providing administrative advice and support directly to the CEO/President regarding company accounting policies and procedures. The Controller will maintain the integrity of business operations by ensuring confidentiality with all financial information, overseeing the preparation of financial statements, cash controls, payroll management, accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring timely and accurate statutory compliance.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts/planning. Provide financial analysis and decision-making support for various strategic initiatives. Analyze financial data and create reports for management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies. Identify opportunities for business growth and operational improvements. Implement and monitor performance metrics, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and industry trends.

Accounting Operations:Develop, maintain, and guarantee the integrity of the General Ledger, business operations, and all the related financial aspects of the multi-platform operating systems. Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition. Assure monthly reconciliations for proper financial reportingEnsure timely and accurate monthly and year-end close processes. Work with our external accountant for annual review and preparation of Financial Statement and tax returns.

Cash Management: Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts. Actively monitor overhead expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities. Manage banking relationships and optimize cash management strategies.

Internal Controls: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Work closely with colleagues on implementation, migration, integration, and oversight of accounting/finance systems and software. Monitor legacy financial systems and process workflow during system migration to ensure accuracy. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial requirements by researching existing and new legislation. Prepare and manage corporate documentation, including company filings. Royalty ManagementThrough our subsidiary DWL, oversee royalty end-to-end processes. Maintain pending, contingent, and cross-collateralized advances. Oversee preparation of 1099/1042 reporting for vendors and royaltors per IRS requirementsGeneral ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with our external accountant to optimize tax strategies and prepare tax filings and ensure compliance with all tax regulations. Develop and implement business strategies, plans, and procedures to support company growth and operational efficiency. Supervise and lead a team of employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing and benefits administration through Gusto platform. Handle vendor relationships, assist in contract negotiations, and oversee procurement processes.

Requirements: 5+ years experience in a supervisory or upper management level finance or accounting position. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA preferred. Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in a small to mid-sized business. In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices. Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting. Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time (exempt), remote, and permanent role, with a salary range of $62,000 to $76,000 based on experience. Candidates with a current CPA license will be considered for the highest compensation due to their accreditation status. This is a new position within a growing company that has been in business for eleven years. We're seeking the ideal candidate and have developed an attractive and sustainable compensation package.
