Animal Care Attendants must value the quality of care we provide at Pawsense and communicate it clearly to clients. Attendants need excellent communication and client service skills in order to reassure nervous "pet parents" that their pets are well cared for at our facility. Animal Care Attendants must remain professional and courteous to clients and co-workers while handling multiple tasks at once with many interruptions. Attendants must be able to empathize with clients and remain compassionate and well-mannered, even if a client becomes emotional or discourteous.
Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain the dog housing areas and the Pawsense facility in a sanitary and pleasant condition. As part of kennel and cage cleaning duties, interact with animals to help them learn basic obedience and/or socialization skills.Launder animal bedding and other items as necessary. Groom and exercise animals as necessary. Be aware of and report any sickness, disease, or injury of any of the animals, and give prescribed medications as required. Maintain other facility areas - sweep, mop as needed, vacuum, empty garbage, etc. Notify the Manager of products that need to be ordered. Other duties that may be required or assigned.
Individual must: Be able to learn assigned tasks readily, be detail-oriented, and be able to follow instructions. Be able to deal tactfully and effectively with the public. Learn how to control animals with patience and kindness. Be able to lift up to 65 pounds, work both inside and outside in all weather conditions in a very physically demanding job, and be able to stand for long periods of time. Must have the ability to work weekends, holidays, and split shifts as required. Be very reliable, with a reliable form of transportation and valid driver's license.Have a genuine affection for animals and a desire to provide them with sanitary and pleasant living conditions.
Essential Qualifications: Basic understanding of animal behaviour and an understanding of body language. Must genuinely enjoy working with animals even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain. Learn to calmly and safely restrain pets who may struggle, scratch, or try to bite. Must be able to respond calmly and quickly to frequent auditory signals, warnings, or communication from other staff, or animals. Perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to observe abnormal behaviors and physical problems in clients. Minimum high school degree or equivalent. (REQUIRED) Ability to read and write legibly in English to communicate clearly both in person and over the telephone.
Interview Process: Pawsense takes pride in excellent customer service skills, as well as, dog handling capabilities. After a skills assessment, you will be required to complete a series of working interviews. You will get to meet everyone, as well as, show us your skills in person. Upon successful completion of the working interviews, Pawsense Management Team will reach out to those that have passed the interview process to determine your start date.
