We are looking to add another valued member to our team as we continue to grow at our new location! Smalls is a 4,000sqft store and a large area in the back we use to process new inventory. As a Store Associate, you'll be responsible for stocking merchandise, cashiering, and cleaning to keep the store looking presentable. As you gain experience you will also sort incoming inventory and price items to go out on the shelves. We keep to a rotating schedule to ensure you're not stuck in one position and spend time both in front of customers and behind the scenes. We are looking for an individual who has experience in the discount/second-hand environment. We are similar to a thrift store environment but we handle new products and a lot of smaller items. If you find yourself in a second hand shop, thrift stores, or flea markets, multiple times a week, then this could be an ideal job for you. Being familiar with the pricing of a wide-range of products will help you tremendously in this role.

Starting Wage: $15.00 per hour with an increase to $16.00 after 90 days.
Duties & Responsibilities: Must be able to perform duties with or without supervision. Process customer purchases, perform general cleaning duties, stocks shelves and merchandise displays neatlyProvide exceptional customer service, assisting customers with their shopping experience. Determine the price of an item based on research, experience, and provided instructions. Sort incoming inventory with the team. Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to the store management team. Provide feedback to management on all products, inventory losses, and general issues. Participate in taking store inventory counts according to guidelines and monitoring inventory for accuracy. Adheres to cash policies and procedures to minimize losses. Complies with all established company policies and procedures while upholding the security and confidentiality of documents and data. Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands: Ability to stock merchandise from store receiving to shelving; ability to place product, weighing up to 45 pounds, on shelving at various heights. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry and walk about the store
Qualifications: Broad experience in thrift shopping/second hand item shopping. Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service. Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately. Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures. Ability to perform general cleaning duties to company standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Ability to stay organized, give attention to detail, follow instructions and multi-task in a professional and efficient manner. Able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior work experience in a retail/discount/second hand environment preferred. A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

Expected Work Hours: Same schedule every week - Saturday through Wednesday and off on Thursday+Friday Weekends 10 am-5 pm and Weekdays 11 am-7 pm with slight adjustments to ensure 40 hours a week. We follow all CDC and VDH recommended guidelines in regards to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. We require that all employees are vaccinated against COVID-19. Employment may be contingent upon the receipt of an acceptable and job-related drug test, motor vehicle report, background check and/or reference check, as applicable and permissible by law. We are a temporary controlled environment and are one of the anchor store's at Merchant's Walk Shopping Center.
About Smalls: Smalls is Richmond's new Discount Store that sells items at $20 & Under along with our new more expensive boutique section. Items are mostly new condition and consist of a wide variety of general merchandise. Items are 100% random and typically one offs. Smalls Retail Division launched in late April 2021 and we closed our original location in May 2022 to move to our current location. Our Grand Opening was Oct 1st 2022. You will be joining a team of five others on our retail division and working with four more on our e-commerce division. We here at Smalls strive to provide a fun experience for our customers and elevate the second hand shopping experience with a clean, functional store, and a high social media presence.
