Civil Service Commission Exams will be given for Telecommunicator and Vehicle Maintenance full-time positions.

Residency within five (5) miles of the corporate limits must be established and maintained within fifteen (15) months of employment for all positions.

The City of Ottawa operates under the Civil Service Commission. Employment positions in the park department, street department, water department, wastewater treatment plant and some positions in the office, and telecommunicators are filled through Civil Service Testing and pursuant to Illinois State statute.
