Marcum Search is assisting out client in their search for a Bid Manager in Syosset, NY.

Job Description

The Bid Manager must possess a proven ability to deliver winning, multi-million-pound product or service opportunities. This role requires strong leadership skills in an office-based environment, excellent communication capabilities, and comfort working at CEO/Director Level (both internal and external customers). The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the competitive marketplace, have a solid commercial understanding, and possess profit and loss experience coupled with risk management skills. They must also have the ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities along with a solid understanding and management of internal governance procedures.

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end K-12 bid process.
  • Oversee the bids team and inputs from key stakeholders, typically engaging with sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal, and project management/delivery.
  • Identify, solicit, and qualify requests for proposals (RFPs) for commercial and commodity K-12 USDA food items.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to develop a clear win strategy for each bid and ensure win themes are clear and compelling.
  • Negotiate with specialist suppliers and/or subcontractors.
  • Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic, and business issues.
  • Prepare and review the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all products/services are included in the final price to the customer.
  • Track and manage risk throughout the bid process.
  • Contribute to the written proposal - both in terms of content and presentation (such as providing guidance around the executive summary).
  • Manage the bid budget and monitor and report on overall performance against KPIs.
  • Ensure timescales are met at each step of the bid process, including all internal governance, while taking the initiative in setting realistic deadlines.
  • Ensure on-time submission of compliant and commercially sound bids.
  • Coordinate and plan all client presentations required as part of the bid submission.
  • Drive continuous improvement through post-bid reviews, both internally and with customers.
  • When bid season winds down, capitalize on collecting awards with the Sales Team. Document and assist with Target Items for sales plans for the upcoming year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience working in Bids, K-12 experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Creative approach to bids and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear and effective communication with clients, both written and verbal.
  • Confidence in personal abilities and judgment to make quick, effective decisions.
  • High-quality service delivery and excellent adeptness with finances.

Estimated Salary range is between $85K - $90K
