The University of Iowa Healthcare Department of Nursing is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses.
Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) (4 JCW)
The CVICU is a 24-bed medical and surgical cardiac unit caring for adults with conditions ranging from myocardial infarctions needing coronary interventions to patients who have undergone cardiac surgery such as CABG or VAD placement. Many patients in CVICU have multi-system failure needing advanced hemodynamic care. Our certifications include:
Joint Commission Advanced Disease Specific Certification for Ventricular Assist Device
Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification for Aortic Aneurysm
Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification for Valve Repair and Replacement
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients
Turn, position and ambulate patients
Assist patients with bedpans, urinals and perineal cleansing
Clean equipment, patient bedside area and nursing unit
Set up rooms for patient admission
Transport patients by bed, cart or wheelchair
Transport equipment, specimens and supplies
Stock and supply patient rooms and Nursing unit
Perform basic CPR as required
Maintain patient confidentiality
Percent of Time:50%-90% - 20-36 hours per week
Schedule: Days, will include a weekend and holiday rotation
