Position: Senior Software Engineer



Job Location: 860 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086



Duties: Design, develop, modify, and test software needed for various Walmart Samsclub projects. Use required technologies to support, maintain, and upgrade code and participating in necessary design, development, and implementation of new and existing components of Walmart software applications. Contribute to Sams Catalog Services and Omni-Catalog Ingestion applications by working with Google Cloud and Azure Cloud platform services. Develop software capabilities to consume and process BigData from the catalog system and provide robust and reliable software services and data pipelines in the Google Cloud for the Samsclub website. Design, develop, and implement best-in-class backend software and large-scale relational and NoSQL database capabilities in Java using BigTable, Cassandra, BigQuery, and Google Cloud Storage through object-oriented programming and algorithm design principles. Provide technical and domain guidance for medium to large-sized teams (Omni Catalog Hub, Omni Catalog Ingestion, and Omni Catalog Services) of significant complexity and impact for Walmart, including coordinating project priorities and resources and conducting independent research, discovery, and design for medium to large-size projects that are part of a multi-system project. Research and develop innovative strategies, processes, and best practices while leading internal technical teams and partnering with product management, project management, business, technology, and user experience teams. Support business objectives by providing leadership, software, and domain expertise during Samsclub Events to ensure successful and smooth event rollout with zero defects. Contribute substantially to the design of Walmart software applications to improve maintenance cost, testing, functionality, platform independence, and performance. Develop and deploy corresponding system metrics to create dashboards and alerting functionalities for monitoring and improving the systems. Improve the robustness, scalability, and reliability of catalog ingestion systems and services by optimizing cloud functionalities and Apache Beam Dataflow pipelines through software design patterns and best-in-class coding practices. Contribute to core team processes and code to efforts outside own project, including those with Walmart-wide impact.



Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 2 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 5 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.



Skills required: Experience implementing and coding in Object oriented programming using Java, Apache Beam, RUST, and GoLang programming language. Experience designing and implementing relational databases MYSQL, PostGres and DB2. Experience designing and implementing distributed REST APIs and web services. Experience designing NoSQL databases Cassandra, Big Query and Big Table for RESTful services. Experience designing and implementing client server design architecture. Experience with continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) of software applications through deployment plans using Jenkins and Terraform. Experience with data ingestion services and applications for Big Data using Google Cloud Services and Azure Cloud Services. Experience with software debugging, troubleshooting, unit testing and integration testing. Experience with software testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and version control. Experience with server-side programming and frameworks. Experience with software containerization and container orchestration. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.




Salary Range: $174,518/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
