Position Overview: Timbercrest is seeking a Director of Development to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, multi-skilled professional with a strong background and enthusiasm for building our Development Department. We are looking for a seasoned fundraising professional who can lead us in building and expanding our donor base and fundraising efforts.

The Director of Development is a key leadership role responsible for spearheading our fundraising efforts, fostering donor relationships, and advancing our mission and vision of caring for the elder population. This position requires a passionate advocate with a strong commitment to the values and goals of Timbercrest. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic vision, fundraising expertise, and exceptional communication skills to drive growth and engage stakeholders effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: A member of the leadership team and reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development is responsible for the leadership, direction, and operations of Timbercrest fundraising initiatives. They will be responsible for planning, executing, and achieving both long and short term contributed income goals for Timbercrest through the annual fund, special events, campaigns, and major gifts.

The Director of Development will be an enthusiastic spokesperson for Timbercrest's mission, vision, and values for both internal and external constituents. They will collaborate closely with the Executive Director, the Board Advancement Committee, and staff to expand and deepen existing donor relationships while implementing creative approaches to expand the pool of Timbercrest's supporters.

Primary Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement long-term and annual fundraising strategies, goals, and tactics with the Management Team and Board of Directors.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders to support programmatic and fundraising goals.

Communication Strategy: Create and execute a comprehensive communication strategy, integrating fundraising and program efforts across various channels.

Event Planning: Lead the planning and implementation of cultivation fundraising events.

Donor Cultivation: Identify and develop strategies to cultivate relationships with prospective and current donors.

Grant Proposals: Collaborate with staff on foundation, corporate, and government grant proposals and manage grant tracking.

Donor Management: Oversee donor tracking systems, ensuring accurate data management and timely acknowledgment of contributions.

Philanthropy Support: Educate and support staff and board members on fundraising processes and roles.


Required Qualifications:

Believes in Timbercrest and its mission. Knowledgeable about wants, needs, abilities, problems, and characteristics of older adults.

Knowledge of the Church of the Brethren denomination and beliefs.

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

3-5 years' experience in fund raising and development coordination involving 501(c)(3)s strongly preferred with knowledge in estate planning, deferred giving methods, will preparation, trusts and annuities. Experienced in tactful and tasteful solicitation methods. Able to relate well with individuals and groups of all ages and economic levels. Able to work with and coordinate efforts of volunteers.

Experience with donor database management software preferred.

Previous grant writing experience a plus.

Possess well developed computer skills: familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
