Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Interprets and/or presents information on regulations, policies, procedures, and/or other source materials dealing with health and safety to staff;
Assists with the development and/or implementation of health and safety programs and helps develop appropriate training;
Assists in employee training on OSHA, Department and City policies and regulations;
Conducts job site inspections for compliance with appropriate department safety policies and procedures, OSHA rules and regulations and other safety regulations as appropriate;
Reports deficiencies and/or violations of health and safety policies and procedures to appropriate authorities;
Investigates accidents by interviewing witnesses and/or visiting the site of the incident and makes recommendations for corrective actions, if appropriate;
Collects and tracks accident data for trend analysis to determine specific areas where additional training may be necessary;
Participates in the department safety committee and may be responsible for coordinating meetings;
Assists with maintaining safety, training and other records as required by OSHA;
Attend off-site training;
Maintain training records of employees;
Must be able to respond to afterhours emergencies in the event of an accident;
Other duties as assigned.

Must possess strong project management skills, be able to work independently, and have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Must maintain all records in a clear manner.
Communicates clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Work is thorough, timely and reflects follow-through to completion.
