We are seeking a Junior-level Environmental Planner to join our growing renewable energy practice in New York State and the Northeastern U.S. The selected candidate will be engaged in renewable energy site development, focusing on feasibility studies, state and local permitting, and field investigations. The primary role is to help clients navigate the complex land use permitting process.

Your Role:

• Conduct environmental site assessments in accordance with ASTM standards.

• Support state and local permit applications for renewable energy projects.

• Work alongside a nationwide network of experts advancing cutting-edge solutions in energy transition.

• Prepare reports and land use application documents to support renewable energy project development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.

• 2-5 years of professional consulting experience in environmental planning or permitting.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Familiarity with environmental, zoning, or planning regulations is a plus.

• Experience with solar and/or battery energy storage projects is desirable.

• Proficiency in drafting technical reports on environmental topics (a writing sample may be requested).

• Possession of a valid driver's license that meets Tetra Tech's insurance requirements.

• A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Preferred Skills:

• Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with clients and colleagues.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Experience using field technologies such as handheld GPS units and tablets for data collection.

• Familiarity with ArcGIS software (ArcGIS Online/Pro Desktop) for data analysis and mapping.

Compensation:

Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
