Title: Tenure-Track Professor in Post45 Anglophone Literature

Position Description: The Department of English seeks to appoint a tenure-track professor in Post45 Anglophone Literature. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2025. The tenure-track professor will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, contributing to the intellectual life of the Faculty and University by pursing a full program of scholarly research and course development, advising undergraduate and graduate students, overseeing independent research projects, and engaging in an appropriate amount of service.

Basic Qualifications: Doctorate in English or related discipline required by the time the appointment begins.

Additional Qualifications: Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching and advising is desired.

3. Teaching/advising statement (describing the candidate's teaching philosophy and practices as well as their approach to creating a learning environment in which students are encouraged to ask questions and share their ideas)

4. Research statement

5. Service statement describing efforts to strengthen academic communities, e.g., the candidate's department, institution, and/or professional societies.

6. Names and contact information of 3-5 referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate's application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate's undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor. The deadline for receiving letters of recommendation is November 18, 2024.

7. Writing sample or scholarly publication, 25-30 pp

Those who advance to the next round will be expected to submit in late November/early December the entire dissertation or as much of it as is completed (or, alternatively, a book-length publication).
