We are pleased to announce an opening for an Aerospace Engineer who will join our Engineering Services Team in Huntsville, AL and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, and space control marketspaces. Qualified candidates will be part of an exceptional team supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) mission to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends from missile attacks in all phases of flight.

Responsibilities:

The Aerospace Engineer will be providing Threat Missile Flight Modeling & Simulation support to the NSWCDD threat engineering contract. This position will support the MDA Engineering Directorate (MDA/DE) and MDA Aegis Directorate (MDA/AB). This team performs analysis and assessments of ballistic and non-ballistic threat system performance.

Duties include:

  • Development of intelligence-based analytical models and tools to characterize and analyze threat ballistic missile, cruise missile, and hypersonic vehicle performance
    • Development of aerodynamics, mass properties, propulsion, guidance, navigation and control inputs and modules
    • Characterization of missile performance variation and uncertainty
    • Modeling of threat missile excursions and execution of design trade studies
  • Generation and evaluation of digital trajectory data using 6-DOF simulation tools
  • Documentation and presentation of work to internal and external customers
  • Support of ongoing activities in developing a high fidelity Six Degrees-of-Freedom (6-DOF) digital flight simulation environment
  • Performing research and augmenting toolsets to enhance modeling techniques and improve current processes

Basic Qualifications:

At a minimum, qualified candidates must have:

  • Active Us DoD SECRET (or higher).
  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering (advanced degrees preferred).
  • Candidates must possess at least 0 to 5 years of work experience. At least 1 year experience of DoD experience, MDA experience preferred.
  • Candidates should demonstrate experience and capability in one or more of the following areas: analysis and modeling of ballistic missile, cruise missile, and/or hypersonic systems including flight dynamics, vehicle performance characterization, propulsion system design, supersonic/hypersonic aerodynamics prediction, guidance, navigation, control, and flight test data analysis.
  • Experience in MATLAB, Python, R, C/C++, or similar coding language for data analysis, algorithm development, and model implementation.
  • Candidates must be able to communicate well through written documentation and oral presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in MATLAB, Python, R, C/C++, or similar coding language for data analysis, algorithm development, and model implementation.
  • Masters or PhD in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Modeling and analysis experience in the characterization of adversary missile systems.
  • Experience with analyzing large datasets.
  • Experience working with Linux systems.
  • Familiarity with utilizing high-performance computing (HPC) environments for physics or mathematical simulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
