The Executive Director Position is responsible for the ongoing growth, sustainability, and leadership of the Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse organization and programming.


Job responsibilities include:


  • Facilitates the development, implementation, and attainment of goals of multi- year strategic plan.

  • Works with Board of Directors and staff to ensure that adequate fundraising activities meet projected budgetary goals. Demonstrates completion of goals through member outcome measures, customer satisfaction ratings, and operation within financial budget parameters.



  • Ensures growth of the program by implementing actions to increase membership and community resources such as referral sources, professional networks, member services and potential member employers.

  • Directs implementation of annual budget. Ensures appropriate accounting controls and reporting mechanisms thus ensuring performance within budget parameters.

  • E ngage s staff and members in day-to-day operations consistent with the accepted Clubhouse model, which focuses on members and staff working side-by-side as colleagues to run the Clubhouse .

  • Remains abreast of regulatory requirements and implements programmatic adaptations to comply with current requirements.



  • Directs human resource functions for recruitment, retention, selection, and performance management.

  • Directs program and personnel policies and procedures.

  • Partners with Board Chairperson in planning Board development and recurring Board meetings.

  • Develops appropriate measures to meet board approved goals.



  • Vets and assists with design of nationwide rese arch projects, including participation.

  • Develops and maintains nationwide alliances with professionals and organizations/agencies related to advancement of brain injury issues throughout the community.

  • Performs as substitute for employment coordinator and unit supervisors as needed by facilitating member involvement in clubhouse, community-based, and work site activities.

  • Ensures appropriate data integrity and compliance.

The Executive Director must possess at least three years of progressively responsible management experience in management , marketing and/or development of a brain injury program , clubhouse model program , or a similar human service agency . A bachelor's Degree in a vocational or health - related fiel d required . A mas ter's degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.


Must demonstrate the following skills/knowledge/abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy a business vision and related strategies.

  • Ability to effectively lead/drive change and continual improvement as well as new revenue streams .

  • Ability to work collaboratively with all Board, employees , members, caretakers, families, and payers .

  • Demonstrated persuasion skills, especially at the executive leadership level.



  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex issues with multiple, often conflicting, requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to attract, motivate, retain , and develop a diverse team of clubhouse staff.

  • Management skills to successfully perform the planning, directing, reporting, and administrative responsibilities of the organization .
