Location for the Construction Project Manager is in Tamaqua, PA with potential for domestic travel required to meet project needs.



Your Role



The Construction Project Manager will work closely with members of the project management, engineering, site operations, project controls and procurement departments on execution of approved projects through handover to operations. This role will be involved in design iterations, estimating, and constructability reviews, manage preconstruction efforts and engaged in construction contracting, and will steer construction entities (general contractor, subcontractor, special inspections, and commissioning) towards milestone schedule and budget targets. This role will include supervision of on-site construction, construction/construction safety personnel, active problem solving and accountability for construction administration (submittal reviews, RFI's, design page turns, change orders/change management), and strategic management amongst the different internal stakeholders (manufacturing, process design, finance, procurement, executive).



Key Responsibilities:



  • Delivery of capital projects safely, meeting quality and performance objectives and meeting cost and schedule commitments. The role begins with involvement during project development and full accountability after project approval for project execution and hand over to operations.

  • Provide Construction management oversight of key capital projects. Promote and oversee environmental, health, and safety performance of all construction entities on associated projects. Be the safe working example for construction personnel and internal working groups.

  • Direct interface with construction general contractors during the bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases.

  • Participate in negotiations with general contractors and bids/proposals evaluations.

  • Create construction project scope and request for proposals, in close conjunction with project, engineering and process engineering teams.

  • Provide Construction project management for specific initiatives aimed at increasing the efficiency, cost effectiveness and safety.

  • Constructability reviews of all designs associated with construction.

  • Support project management with construction document management including submittal review, RFI's, change orders, and invoicing.

  • Coordinates schedule updates with contractors and assist in monitoring the progress and productivity of field activities.

  • Project Close-Out tasks include punch list tracking, as-built drawing submissions, commissioning and pre-startup safety reviews.




Who You Are:




Minimum Qualifications:



  • BS degree in Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical or Civil or experience and knowledge in construction project management in lieu of a degree

  • Previous experience in project management and/or construction as a result orientated, hands-on senior project manager with background in all facets of the industry and with a proven track record of successful capital projects of sizes >10 M TIC each in a chemical or semiconductor manufacturing setting.

  • Experience with building chemical or manufacturing plants / piping instrumentation and process controls systems plant design / engineer process plants

  • Verifiable track record for the successful completion of projects through coordinating trades, developing partnerships, and building positive rapport with architects, engineers, local officials, vendors, and clients while keeping priority on safety, quality, cost, and schedule.

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of Construction Management, including safety aspects (OSHA compliance, management of construction site safety program). This will include trench excavation safety, scaffold erection and inspection, fall protection, confined space safety, working at heights, crane safety, PPE, LOTO, job hazard analysis, permit to work safety, safety supervision and leadership.

  • Excellent understanding of construction contracts and ability to thoroughly document and manage change orders and negotiate with contractors on change order claims.




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Ability to effectively prioritize with strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.

  • High level of professionalism and sense of urgency.

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance; Proactive, motivated self-starter.

  • Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently.

  • Understanding of construction techniques, ability to review project design documents and provide constructability feedback prior to and during construction.

  • Literate in P&IDs, Single Lines, Flow Diagrams, Logic Diagrams and Loops Diagrams. Ability to ensure construction is in compliance with company and project design standards.

  • Ability to sequence installations with all construction trades.

  • Experience with Permits / City, Special inspections is preferred.

  • Experience working with a commissioning team.
