Position Details


We are looking for a Commission Accountant, Broker Compensation to join our Finance Group. The individual will report to the Head of Broker Compensation in the US and will work with the team on the compensation process related to in-house brokers as well as outside brokers. This position will collaborate with international accounting teams, as well as functional partners across the organization. The ideal candidate is someone who loves challenging opportunities and thrives in a dynamic environment with strict deadlines.


Key Accountabilities

  • Assist with the broker compensation process, including reviewing commission calculations, broker payroll, broker receivables, and equity tracking
  • Coordinate with payroll, corporate accounting, accounts payable, and equity compensation teams regarding the weekly payroll
  • Set up and maintain broker profiles, including for new hires, terminations as well as amendments
  • Review and validate broker payment attributes (brackets and splits) to broker employment agreements and related contracts
  • Reconcile weekly payroll file to the payout file from payroll and the accounting ledger to ensure accuracy
  • Reconcile broker receivable reports to broker accounts and the accounting ledger to ensure appropriate deduction of broker receivables from commission payments
  • Partner with legal, collections, and business operations teams on researching and resolving open receivables and payables for terminated brokers
  • Prepare the equity quarterly reports for US and International brokers and appraisers.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and drive efficiencies as well as support with automation and finance transformation projects
  • Create and distribute accurate internal reports to various stakeholders across the organization, as required
  • Provide excellent customer service by proactively managing the inbox as well as escalated issues and bringing them to resolution
  • Maintain a system of effective controls, policies, and procedures over broker compensation activities
  • Complete various accounting projects as needed including GL reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with the internal audit team on establishing and maintaining controls
  • Coordinate with external auditors regarding the financial audit and group SOX controls testing
  • Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned

Job Requirements & Qualifications



Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in accounting
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience working in a multi-function shared services and/or offshore environment, a plus

Knowledge and Targeted Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of commercial real estate, preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills as well as impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and handle several deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Advanced Excel skills, required
  • Experience with Oracle and FloQast, a plus



Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 annually


The expected base salary for this position ranges from $65,000 to $75,000 annually. The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis taking into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, this position may be eligible for additional types of compensation including discretionary bonuses and other short- and long-term incentives (e.g., deferred cash, equity, etc.).
