Meet the team:



The Category Manager / Strategic Sourcing Manager - Professional Services is responsible for developing world class category strategies in alignment with the key stakeholders' business needs for the following Indirect categories; Consulting, Clinical Services, HR Services, Legal Services, Financial Services, to increase value and drive business growth while keeping a focus on Dexcom's mission - "Empowering people to take control of health". In Strategic Sourcing, we help to make Dexcom's products more accessible and affordable by developing internal and external partnerships with our stakeholders and our suppliers.


This role interfaces with the key cross functional stakeholders globally, acting as their procurement Business Partner to help them strategically acquire goods and services that they require to run their functions and for Dexcom's growth. Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation. Qualifies suppliers according to company standards. Monitors supply of goods and services of suppliers in assigned category and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur. Develops strategies and contingency plans to mitigate risks in supply, reduce cost, and improve vendor performance. Works with other support organizations in the company (finance, legal, quality, etc.) to ensure proper approvals, and contractual agreements are successfully negotiated to protect Dexcom interests.



Where you come in:



  • Establish long term strategies for cost improvement among Strategic Sourcing categories, in collaboration with multi-functional stakeholders


  • Accountable for achieving annual savings & avoidance targets, and independently verified with internal finance partners


  • Research, synthesize and articulate longer-term market and technology trends related to the category


  • Maximize value while mitigating risk on Dexcom business using quantitative and qualitative methods


  • Manage the entire Procurement lifecycle to see a stakeholder requirement defined, sourced, competitively priced, shepherded through review processes to an executed contract, and established purchase order


  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships as a business partner - ensure the needs of the business are understood and supported


  • Assure continuity of supply of goods or services; identify risks and mitigation strategies


  • Build/maintain multi-year support roadmaps for all key suppliers - always have a plan for what the next stage of Dexcom's growth looks like


  • Establish operational objectives and work plans to meet the function's long-term plans


  • Proactively develop and maintain supplier portfolio to support all the Inbound, On-hand and Outbound Logistics related categories


  • Perform cost and scenario analysis and benchmarking


  • Vendor contractual management of key IT procurement related categories


  • Conduct periodic Business Partner and Supplier business reviews


  • Support Responsible Sourcing initiatives tied to Small and Diverse Supplier development, Risk Management, and Sustainability initiatives


  • Define and report on key metrics that measure effectiveness of supply and cost savings


  • Responsible to lead assigned category sourcing team and their functional goal alignment


  • Accountable for team's performance and compliance with Dexcom's policies & processes





What makes you successful:



  • Proven track record of working experience as a strategic sourcing professional with in-depth knowledge of strategic sourcing concepts & best practices to support Professional Services Categories


  • 7+ years of proven sourcing and category management expertise in the following Professional Services Sourcing categories with Focus on Consulting, HR Services, Clinical Services, Quality Services, Legal



  • Experience leading sourcing events (RFI's, RFP's, etc.)


  • Advanced negotiation and networking skills


  • Strong knowledge of industry contract terms & practices


  • Ability to effectively influence others and manage sensitive situations


  • Ability to manage, navigate, and perform at a high level in a matrix organization


  • Ability to build a quantitative & qualitative business case, articulate it effectively, and get support from senior leadership


  • Proven track record of delivering results while working effectively cross-functionally


  • Strong Financial Analysis, Market Analysis, and Strategic planning skills


  • Proven ability to combine vision, ingenuity, and strong business acumen with well-developed project management and leadership skills


  • Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to establish "Trusted Advisor" status


  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines


  • Track record of success leading and participating in cross functional improvement efforts; includes creating process diagrams, analyzing workflows, and developing standard operating procedures.


  • Mastery of Excel & PowerPoint


  • Customer service oriented


  • High competency with problem-solving; is self-motivated to overcome challenges and obstacles


  • Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma and Lean principles preferred.


  • Practical knowledge of eProcurement systems functionality and capabilities


  • Keys to success in this role include sound judgment, excellent written/verbal communication skills, and ability to extract insights from data

Travel Required:



  • Up to 25%





Experience and Education Requirements:



  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience.


  • At this level a graduate degree may be desirable with 4 years of related experience.





Flex Workplace: Your primary location will be a home office. You will not have an assigned workstation and will work with your manager to determine office visit needs. You must live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km).
