Job Overview

The Senior Product Manager will drive the strategic vision around our value proposition, market approach, channel partnerships, and solutions landscape to foster long-term customer and installer relationships. This role involves developing product roadmaps, analyzing competitors, addressing product gaps, leading cross-functional teams in launching new products and digital solutions, managing costs and profitability, and continuously refining the product portfolio strategy for connected smart products. Additionally, the position entails overseeing project management, supporting marketing efforts for commercialization, pricing, sales training, literature, and promotional activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage deeply with customers to uncover needs and develop a compelling product roadmap for connected controls and product ecosystems.
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle, including development, profitability, and growth of market share for assigned product lines.
  • Provide expert insights into control functionality, app experiences, digital tools, sensor technologies, and data solutions for project teams.
  • Drive the creation of digital service initiatives for specific business units to accelerate growth.
  • Lead the design and development of enterprise solutions focused on user experience across multiple devices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct project justification analysis (ROI, payback periods) and secure project approval.
  • Maintain and update a product roadmap to ensure market competitiveness, drive customer-focused innovations, and support P&L growth, incorporating voice of customer (VOC) feedback.
  • Oversee cross-functional teams in product development projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and milestones.
  • Work with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and purchasing teams to implement cost-reduction strategies while enhancing product portfolio profitability.
  • Collaborate with marketing to equip the sales team with the necessary training, resources, and tools to effectively sell products.
  • Analyze product data, and update sales teams on developments related to both company and competitor products.
  • Lead competitive benchmarking activities, identifying product gaps through methodologies such as product teardowns, customer interviews, and research.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in product management, marketing, sales, or engineering-related roles.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to work across diverse teams (e.g., product managers, engineers, marketing professionals) and with external experts.
  • Proven passion for creating and owning innovative, customer-centric products.
  • Familiarity with agile software development and an ability to adapt to change with an open mindset.
  • Experience in advanced technology areas like Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in software tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30-50%.

Preferred Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of the smart grid ecosystem, including field equipment and grid monitoring/control systems.
  • Understanding of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) such as electric vehicles, solar inverters, and batteries, and their impact on utility power delivery models.
  • Experience with smart home control technologies.
  • Familiarity with utility industry challenges, use cases, market opportunities, and utility business case modeling.
  • Master's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or manufacturing industries is preferred.
