Job Description:

Vaco is hiring a Project Manager within the R&D Department located in Oakland Park, FL. This is a 4-day work week, Mon-Thurs 6:30AM-5PM

Overview:
Ensure overall direction, planning, implementation, execution, control, and completion of diverse engineering and R&D projects consistent with company strategy, commitments, and objectives.
Deliverables & Responsibilities
  1. Successfully execute new product development projects to ensure completion of product launches within financial and schedule commitments while delivering products that meet quality and commercial requirements:
    • Assist in developing, communicate, and execute project plans.
    • Establish an effective communication across project teams.
    • Efficiently manage prototype builds to ensure deliverables meet agreed product technical and commercial requirements at launch, continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
    • Remain at the forefront of emerging industry practices and manage the process of innovative change effectively.
  2. Evaluate, recommend and implement improvements to existing products and processes (more cost efficient, reliable, functional, etc.)
  3. Research and monitor market demands, customers, competitors, new technologies and materials, and industry developments to identify potential new product opportunities
  4. Measure project performance to identify areas of improvement, monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
Qualifications (Education, Experience & Skills)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Electrical) and 5+ years of demonstrated Project Management experience in a manufacturing environment with ability to take projects from concept to implementation; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with previous successful development and maintenance of project schedules, internal work plans, budgets and a solid understanding of project-based financial management.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Project planning and scheduling software and Microsoft Office is required. Ability to use SolidWorks is a significant asset.
  • Strong written/verbal communications skills with ability to deliver professional and well-organized presentations
  • PMP Certification highly desired.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills for thorough analysis and maintenance of internal performance reports, risk identification and establishment of risk mitigation plans.
  • Leadership skills with proven ability to establish success criteria for all project stakeholders.
  • Ability to set and manage individual and team priorities as well as identify and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to negotiate win-win relationships with project teams, Customers, and Suppliers.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing techniques including sheet metal fabrication, extrusion and injection molding is highly preferred.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Electrical) and 5+ years of demonstrated Project Management experience in a manufacturing environment with ability to take projects from concept to implementation; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
