Job Description:

The Process Engineer plays a critical role in Shawmut Corporation's finishing department, driving improvements in manufacturing processes and reducing internal scrap costs. This individual will take ownership of key processes, solve complex problems, and collaborate across teams to ensure optimal performance. The Process Engineer will spend significant time on the production floor, troubleshooting issues, and working with operators to refine and enhance processes. This position is ideal for a motivated, mechanically inclined individual looking to make a significant impact within an innovative company with growing global operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and analyze scrap metrics, creating and executing plans to reduce inefficiencies and improve process stability.
  • Work closely with maintenance and operators to ensure equipment functionality and process setups are optimized.
  • Develop and implement capital projects focused on process improvements and error-proofing tools.
  • Participate in quality meetings and collaborate with the quality team to trace field rejections back to the finishing process.
  • Utilize SPC and tools like JMP or Minitab to analyze data and provide real-time feedback on process metrics.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to review new products before they transition to manufacturing.
  • Create, update, and maintain process documentation, including PFMEA, and train operators on new processes.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or Textile Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, with a preference for candidates from the textile industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on approach, with the ability to work closely with operators in a challenging production environment.
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing, 5S, Fishbone diagrams, SPC, and AutoCAD for plant layouts.
  • Excellent data analysis skills and experience with tools like JMP or Minitab for statistical process control.
  • Flexibility to collaborate across teams and departments to solve problems and drive process improvements.
