Job Description

The Mechanical Designer works under the direction of the Engineering Manager to design and develop a variety of human-machine interfaces and improve designs of existing product line. This will include working with plastic injected-molded parts, electro-mechanical assemblies, small motors, and a variety of other electronic components and materials.

Job Duties
• Creates, develops, and maintains assembly models, detailed component drawings, and complex assembly drawings in SolidWorks, while proactively offering potential design solutions
• Contributes to our team-orientated product development culture
• Hands-on prototyping includes paint, prep and assembly of plastic, metal, and electronic parts
• Create and maintain engineering documentation using standard engineering procedures
• Participate in the ECO process and perform any related changes and essential documentation
• Collaborate with production personnel to develop designs that minimize labor and reduce costs
• Provide technical support for production and customer service personnel to troubleshoot problems as needed
• Participate in process improvement projects to continually advance business practices
• Design and fabrication of 3D printed parts, primarily used for prototyping and customer samples

Requirements
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Associate degree in mechanical design or related discipline
• 2-5 years' relevant product design experience
• Experienced in, and understands of standard drafting practices
• Must be able to conceptualize, plan and design electro-mechanical products
• Highly skilled in Solidworks or similar 3D modeling software
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Self-motivated to meet project deadlines
• Good verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite
• Enjoys the creative aspect of working on new ideas and concepts
• Hands-on attitude and ability
• Disposition to work toward continuous design improvement
• Physically able to lift up to 40lbs and climb a ladder
Working Conditions Primary working conditions will be office and lab work with frequent activities in the prototype shop. Occasional travel to suppliers and to customer worksites. Travel typically less than 5%.
