Documentation Engineer / Tech Writer (Python/APIs/AWS) - Hybrid in Orlando, FL

Optomi, in partnership with a market leader in the entertainment industry is seeking a Documentation Engineer for a hybrid position of out their Orlando, FL office. This candidate will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating detailed technical documentation, including API references, system architectures, and design documents. Additionally, this candidate will work closely with the development team to stay updated on project progress and changes, ensuring all documentation reflects the current state of the software.

Experience of the right candidate:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience with a strong technical aptitude and hands-on software development skills.
  • Proficient in Python, with experience using frameworks such as Flask and FastAPI.
  • Familiarity with AWS, particularly in utilizing AWS CDK for infrastructure as code, along with relevant AWS certifications.
  • Strong ability to clearly document complex technical concepts and systems, including technical specifications, API documentation, system architecture diagrams, and design documents.
  • Experience with markdown for documentation purposes.
  • Knowledge of additional technologies such as Apache Flink and DBT (Data Build Tool).
  • Previous experience using Git for version control.
  • Familiarity with other Python frameworks and tools, such as Pydantic.
  • Exposure to project management tools like JIRA.

Responsibilities of the right candidate:
  • Participate in technical meetings, capturing key discussions and decisions for documentation.
  • Create, maintain, and update detailed technical documentation, including API references, system architectures, and design documents.
  • Collaborate with engineers and developers to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
  • Organize and manage documentation repositories, ensuring easy access and usability for the team.
  • Assist in onboarding and supporting new documentation engineers in understanding project requirements and tools.
  • Work closely with the development team to stay updated on project progress and changes, ensuring all documentation reflects the current state of the software.
