Job Description:

The Wireless Architect will design, deploy, and maintain our critical wireless infrastructure, ensuring seamless and secure network connectivity across our hospital and remote sites. This role will also be responsible for the overhaul of the existing network infrastructure to support the latest wireless technologies, improve network performance, and enhance security.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Lead the design and architecture of the organization's wireless network infrastructure, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
  2. Deep understanding of wireless communication principles, network protocols, and security frameworks.
  3. Expertise in the latest wireless technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi 6/6E, 5G, IoT).
  4. Strong experience with network management and wireless design tools (e.g., Ekahau, AirMagnet).
  5. Implement and manage wireless networking fundamentals, including wireless protocols, standards, and best practices.
  6. Design and deploy wireless network solutions, including wireless access points, controllers, and network management systems.
  7. Ensure the security and integrity of the wireless network, implementing wireless security solutions and protocols.
  8. Collaborate with infrastructure teams to integrate wireless networking with the overall network infrastructure and data center environments.
  9. Optimize wireless network performance, identifying and resolving issues to enhance coverage and reliability.
  10. Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline wireless network management and maintenance processes.
  11. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CWNE, CCIE Wireless) are highly desirable.
  12. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on engaging effectively with client stakeholders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications such as CWNA, CWDP, CWAP, CWSP, CISSP, CCNP Wireless, or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in wireless network design, implementation, and management in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with Wireless Standards (IEEE 802.11).
  • Strong knowledge of wireless networking fundamentals, including wireless protocols, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience in the deployment and management of wireless network hardware, including wireless access points, controllers, and network management systems.
  • Proficiency in wireless network security principles, practices, and technologies, with hands-on experience in implementing and managing wireless security solutions.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages and automation tools for wireless network management and optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex wireless network issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Understand critical milestones that drive operational excellence.
  • Proficiency in the use of a computer, and software applications including Microsoft Office.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail, with the ability to work on multiple tasks/projects simultaneously (multi-task).
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with personnel at all levels, both within and outside the company.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision on a highly productive team.
  • Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
  • Easily takes initiative and works independently.
  • Maturity, professionalism, and good work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as CCNP, CWNA, or equivalent.
  • Experience with MikroTik
  • Experience with Cisco, Ruckus, TP-Link, Cambium
  • Experience with managed WiFi networks.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices.
