About the role:
As a BI Architect at TQL, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying data models and visualizations that support business decision-making processes. You will work closely with internal teams to gather requirements, develop robust data models, and lead the implementation of Databricks and Power BI solutions.

What you’ll be doing:
Requirements Gathering & Data Integration:
Participate in requirements-gathering sessions and identify available data sources
Work with the BI/Data Analysts & Data Architects to develop semantic data models
Document data models necessary to integrate disparate data sources
Data Modeling:
Create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduce redundancy
Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects
Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new use cases.
Maintain semantic, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata
Data Quality & Governance:
Perform data cleansing and validation and rapid prototyping for key users.
Implement and enforce data governance policies
Collaborate with data stewards to ensure data quality, compliance, and secure handling of sensitive information
Technical Implementation & Optimization:
Optimize Power BI performance by fine-tuning queries, data models, and report designs
Implement caching strategies and other performance-enhancing techniques to ensure efficient and accurate data modeling
Work directly with technical staff to create and maintain technical documentation
Strategic Vision & Leadership:
Devise and execute a strategic vision for Power BI, aligning it with organizational goals and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making
Maintain an active backlog that is continuously updated and re-prioritized
Collaboration & Guidance:
Guide BI Analysts and the self-developed BI community on platform limitations and capabilities
Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies
Recommend opportunities for reuse of existing data models in new use cases
What you need:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
5+ years’ experience as a BI Architect or similar role, with a strong understanding of data modeling and BI tools, particularly Power BI
Databricks experience preferred
Experience managing data governance and compliance
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Knowledge of best practices in data modeling, data quality, and data governance
