JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary purpose

Supports third-party and ancillary applications in the Measurement and the Operational Data Historian areas as well as plans, develops, tests and configures software systems.

Responsible for implementing the strategic design and maintenance of business intelligence applications. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Ensures that the use of business intelligence applications enhances business decision making capabilities. Requires a Bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Typically, 8+ years of related experience. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization.Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in IT, Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • Minimum of five (5) years overall IT experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years development/support experience of measurement or data historian systems.
  • Minimum of three (3) years recent experience focusing on system development, support, implementation and upgrades.
  • Experience in the full product development life cycle.
  • Established SQL skills in MS SQL and/or Oracle databases.
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and/or Crystal Reports to develop and maintain reports.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Analytical thinker able to utilize functional understanding of the various components of systems in conjunction with technical knowledge to identify effective and efficient problem resolutions.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills; must communicate effectively with all levels of company personnel.
  • Ability to work well both individually with minimal supervision and in a team environment where the sharing of knowledge is highly regarded and expected.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate systems requirements verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in effectively communicating business and technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in working on multiple assignments during the same time frame juggling tasks based on relative priorities with supervision commensurate with grade level.
  • Use time effectively and efficiently.
  • Advanced proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

Working Conditions:

  • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:


  • Experience working on OSISoft's PI software is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working on Asset Framework (A/F) within PI is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with TopView alarming is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Pipeline and/or Liquid Terminals Industries.
  • Master's degree highly preferred.


Other responsibilities:
The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned.Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities in the Data Historian area focus upon development and support of an OSISoft's PI environment including data gathering and presentation areas.
  • Responsibilities include the collection and interpretation of functional users' requirements and participation in the identification, technical translation, development and implementation of solutions to meet those needs, primarily as they relate to bolt-on applications, interfaces between the systems, reporting and data collection for various internal and external audit requests.
  • Provide system hardware and software support in conjunction with appropriate IT personnel as needed.
  • Participate with IT Infrastructure personnel to review network design, server needs, maintenance issues, monitoring, etc.
  • Other duties include working with users and software vendors to address issues and application upgrade activities.
  • After hours support is an additional responsibility shared with others in the group.
  • Devise or modify procedures to solve business problems using good information technology techniques, keeping in mind the capacity and limitations of the hardware/software, system response time, and form of desired results.
  • Regularly works under deadlines.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.
