The Stephenson Cancer Center is now hiring for a Staff Research Assistant - HPRC. This position will manage multiple research studies related to cancer prevention and control strategies. Studies will predominantly include disseminating tobacco cessation and cancer screening interventions to patients in Oklahoma and nationwide. Interventions will primarily be delivered through smartphones (i.e., apps). The Staff Research Assistant will manage all administrative study requirements (e.g., create, submit and maintain IRB protocols; manage participant reimbursement; create and maintain study REDCap assessment surveys) and will also have to engage directly with research participants, either in person or on the phone.

Duties:



  • THIS IS NOT A BIOMEDICAL/BENCH SCIENCE LAB POSITION.

  • Conducts research analysis for research staff, to include but not limited to measure and weigh compounds and solutions, isolate, identify and prepare specimens, and collect samples and other research information.

  • Participates in clinical research projects collecting data from patients and/or participants in a study. 

  • Collects various forms of data pertaining to the research project or projects, which could include database information and/or hard files. Conducts data analyses, interprets data, draws conclusions, and discusses with principal investigator. 

  • Keeps detailed logs of all research related projects or activities. 

  • Conducts literature searches. 

  • Prepares various reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content that may be submitted for publication.  

  • Participates in meetings and presents research findings to fellow researchers and Principal Investigator.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Department Preferences: 



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Public Health or Communication

  • 12 months of experience working within a research setting and engaging with patients. 

  • Ability to perform basic data analysis

  • Knowledge and experience in research methods including clinical trial data college procedures and IRB Processes.


Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, or Physical Science or related field AND



  • 12 months research laboratory experience.


Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months equivalent experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 60 months research experience.


Skills:



  • Detail oriented. Ability to analyze data and keep records.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Candidate must have an active driver’s license.


Working Conditions:

  • Standing for prolonged periods.

  • Manual dexterity.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Reaching, bending, and stooping.

  • Most time will be spent in the office working on a computer. However, some studies will require the candidate to drive to a community event to recruit, consent, and administer surveys or interventions to participants.
