Under the supervision of the Sr. Admin Manager and attending physicians, the medical assistant is responsible for ensuring efficient patient flow through the office; maintaining neat, clean, and safe patient care areas; maintain medical supplies, and to promote patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtains and reviews daily schedules of patients and ensures all appropriate preparations are in place to facilitate efficient patient flow for the day
Ensures all patient charts are complete and available for attending provider
Confirm correct patient identification using two patient identifiers (full name and DOB)
Greets patients in waiting area and escorts them to exam rooms, and prepares them as necessary for appointment (this includes, height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, O2 and pain assessment)
Prepares specimen collection jars and slides used for fine needle aspiration procedures
Assists with fine needle aspiration procedures, per physician's request
Perform EKGs, per physician's request
Transmits all daily EKG recordings
Maintains all clinical equipment assuring all equipment is in good working order and cleaned after each patient use per office protocol; promptly reports all problems to Biomedical Engineering and Sr. Administrative Manager
Utilizes universal precautions and appropriate infection control practices with all patients and specimens; adheres to hand hygiene
Ensure appropriate stocking of all examination rooms with supplies, requisitions and all materials necessary for efficient patient care.
Performs designated tasks related to tracking test results and may communicate normal test results to patients as directed by a physician or nurse practitioner
Receives patient messages, reviews these with clinical providers per practice protocol and takes action as directed
Coordinates prescription renewal requests for signature by providers
Mails or faxes patient visit notes as requested by providers
Provides back-up support for the front desk staff as needed
Promotes patient/customer satisfaction by interacting with patients and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner
Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Administrative Manager and/or providers
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a certified Medical Assistant with 2-3 years of practical experience.
Electrocardiography
BLS Certified
SKILLS/ ABILITIES:
