Job Description:

The E.W. Scripps company is looking for a Sr. Director of Category Growth and Revenue Development. The focus of this role is to establish vision and lead television and digital advertising sales by forging strategic partnerships with brands and customers to achieve success in key categories. This leader will offer guidance on go-to-market strategies for diverse sales channels and categories to ensure that sales budgets are not only met but surpassed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Collaborate directly with the VP Sales, Local Media, station general managers and directors of sales to integrate applicable local media category strategies across Scripps Enterprise.


  • Track and help implement sales strategies and tactics with station sales directors to achieve special opportunities, new business, and digital goals tied to key categories.


  • Maintain high visibility in the local communities through consistent communication with key agencies and companies that support local and national advertising; participate in local and national industry trade groups; represent the company at industry events.


  • Identify training needs for the sales leaders and employees, including all aspects of local, digital, national, and networks as it pertains to key categories of business.


  •  Track sales activity key performance indicators to meet ad sales revenue and profit goals.


  • Establish effective communication methods to distribute information across the division and to identify station best practices.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:


  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience


  • Generally 10+ years of experience in related field preferred


  • Prior supervisory experience a plus


  • The ability to travel up to 40%


WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • Expert knowledge of all facets of broadcast and digital sales and marketing


  • Understanding of strategic account management, ratings, and digital execution


  • Proven track record of developing high performing sales teams, skilled at personnel development with the ability to coach and facilitate


  • Advanced oral and written communication skills


  • Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings both inside and outside the organization


  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office


  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment


  • Must maintain integrity in all business dealings
