Pacific Coast Producers, a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking a talented and innovative Human Resources (HR) Supervisor to join its team at its Production Facility in Woodland, CA. Our state-of-the-art tomato production facility uses advanced technology to process whole tomatoes into various products such as diced, crushed, stewed, sauces, and paste. With a focus on enhancing product quality, our facility incorporates a cutting-edge sorting system that ensures only the finest tomatoes are used. The Woodland facility stands as a shining example of our unwavering commitment to delivering excellence, while prioritizing efficiency and sustainability every step of the way.

Salary Range: $85,000 to $95,000 per year; candidate will be paid based on their work experience and skills. This position is eligible for the annual profit-sharing bonus program. In addition to compensation, the company offers an attractive and competitive health and welfare benefits program.

The HR Supervisor will report to the HR Manager and is responsible for supporting all aspects of the human resources function for the Woodland Production Facility. The HR Supervisor must have a strong working understanding of employment and labor law and be able to effectively supervise a team of HR professionals and seasonal support staff.

Primary job duties would include:

  • Support all HR functions, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, employee relations, and compensation and benefits. This includes assisting with conducting interviews, selecting candidates, and making hiring decisions.
  • In the absence of the HR Manager, serve as the acting supervisor for the HR team, overseeing daily operations and decision-making.
  • Serve as point of contact for employee queries, concerns, complaints, ensuring prompt and equitable resolutions. This includes conducting thorough investigations into complex employee issues, recommending and implementing appropriate courses of action.
  • Effectively interpret and administer the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) to resolve labor disputes and maintain a harmonious work environment. This includes assisting in fulfilling data requests to support the analysis and planning for collective bargaining or regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee leaves of absence, (e.g., FMLA/CFRA/PDL) and attendance tracking for employees and managers. Seek out and implement ways to improve leave administration.
  • Provide assistance with payroll related matters which includes interacting with the corporate payroll management to ensure payroll compliance and timeliness.
  • Assist with the daily scheduling process, including HRIS use, which includes ensuring headcount is met for all production departments.
  • Administer reasonable accommodations for employees as required under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and provide guidance and support throughout the interactive process.
  • Manage the discipline or corrective action and/or separation process for employees, including conducting exit interviews and providing feedback to management so that improvements can be made.
  • Coordinate events and activities aimed at improving workplace engagement and culture, such as employee appreciation events, wellness initiatives, retirement parties, and other events.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and always maintain a high level of professionalism, setting a high standard for all employees.

  • Strong HR/HRIS systems experience, particularly with custom timekeeping solutions and have the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and timekeeping systems (i.e., ADP and WorkForce Software).
  • Highly detail oriented and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledgeable about federal and state employment and labor laws.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience as an HR Generalist.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and/or timekeeping systems.
  • SHRM and/or HRCI professional certification preferred.
