Job Description:

Gannett is seeking an experienced SEO product analyst in a 3-month temporary role. The ideal candidate will collaborate with editorial, product, and development teams to ensure that data-driven SEO strategies are effectively implemented. They will be undaunted by large data sets as they identify trends, opportunities, and ways to boost our competitive advantages. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of SEO best practices, and the ability to prioritize initiatives based on data insights.

This role will be at the forefront of understanding changing user behaviors in search. Their curiosity will drive them to do deep research, creating insights to guide action. This role will be on the cutting-edge utilizing AI technologies to enhance topical authority to grow and engage our audience.

Hourly Range: $35-$45/hr, 40 hours per week, 3-month assignment. If successful, this role could become permanent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with editorial, product, and development teams to ensure data-driven SEO strategies are implemented. Prioritize initiatives based on data.
  • Deliver actionable insights to editorial and technical teams to optimize SEO performance and drive results, including leveraging AI to maximize search performance and enhance user experience.
  • Guide technical SEO, on-page SEO, and content optimization based on industry standards.
  • Analyze performance data on Gannett news performance in search from Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and Parsely to ensure that the most impactful actions are taken. Build reports and dashboards tracking SEO metrics.
  • Conduct in-depth research to understand searcher intent and identify trends and opportunities for automation using AI technologies.
  • Serve as the go-to for SEO traffic, keyword ranking, and site performance metric questions. Troubleshoot traffic drops and recommend fixes.
  • Educate and share best practices and the use of AI tools to drive search results.
  • Ensure accuracy in data reporting, and validate SEO data.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in SEO, preferably within a news publishing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in data reporting and validation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of AI tools, risks, and opportunities is preferred.
