Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Flow Cytometry Laboratory performs routine and highly complex testing in immunophenotyping for analysis of various disease states including Immunodeficiency and Leukemia/Lymphoma, platelet antibody and other flow cytometric related testing. The department is staffed Monday through Friday, 24 hours, and Saturday's from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with Sunday call coverage. The Lab offers flexible work assignments, limited weekend assignments and an incredible team atmosphere. This is a growing department with many new and exciting technologies that include research panels and cell sorting.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Technologist in the department will perform highly complex testing of immunophenotyping and platelet antibody testing as well as other miscellaneous testing under the coordination of the lead technologist and director. Handles phone inquiries regarding patient results and specimen collection. The Medical Technologist will participate in quality control, quality assurance and general laboratory duties including but not limited to filing, data entry, and inventory control.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology with MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification or biological science with MT certification. New graduate applicants must obtain MT certification within 12 months of hire and must take first test with 6 months of hire.
On going: Meets minimum continuing education requirement and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in flow cytometry techniques, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
