Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

Under general supervision serves as the IT Project Manager and is responsible for leading and managing IT projects through all phases, from initiation to closure. This role is also responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders, ensuring projects align with organizational goals, managing project resources, and maintaining project documentation. This individual will work in a fast-paced environment as part of multi-disciplinary project teams implementing IT solutions within the Texas Southern University.Develops the project charter, scope, work plan, work breakdown structure, and schedule using a designated project management tool for project team usage. Project Plans include sufficient task level detail to capture known dependencies and major milestones.


Essential Duties Summary:



  • Utilize effective project and time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of cross-functional project teams and ensures the adherence to the project plan.

  • Creates detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

  • Leads project teams to ensure task completion according to schedule.

  • Monitors and adjusts project progress to meet deadlines and budget constraints.

  • Maintains consistent communication with stakeholders, managing expectations and providing status updates.

  • Confirm the alignment of customer expectations and project goals.

  • Creates the Test Plan for each Project.

  • Implements quality control processes to ensure deliverable compliance with standards.

  • Implements process improvements within the project management domain.

  • Develops and executes long-term project management strategies.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in project management and provides guidance on best practices.

  • Drives innovation in project management processes and tools.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range:

Commensurate with experience.


Education:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred.


Required Licensing/Certification:

Certified PMP preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Knowledge of:


  • Knowledge of project management principles, methodologies (such as Agile and Waterfall), and best practices

  • Knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure relevant to the projects managed.

  • Skilled in oral, electronic, and written communications and skilled in effectively conveying information to various stakeholders.

  • Skilled in budgeting and financial management, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints.

  • Ability to lead and motivate project teams, fostering collaboration and effective teamwork.

  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations.

  • Ability to anticipate and address project challenges.

  • Ability to effectively manage time, with a capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.

  • Ability to manage and align stakeholder expectations and requirements.

  • Ability to lead change management initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new systems or processes.
