CALS HR Coordinator

Serve as Human Resources Coordinator for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, with a focus on providing support for academic faculty, and staff. Coordinate the hiring of lecturers, postdoctoral associate appointments, and faculty recruitment. Maintain an understanding of the UVM Job Architecture for classified staff and assist supervisors in the writing and editing staff position descriptions, in collaboration with central HR as needed. Support the CALS HR Administrator in the overall administration of human resources in the college Use independent judgement and problem-solving abilities to interpret and implement terms of faculty and staff union contracts. Delegate and assign transactional work to unit process coordinators and use judgement on when to escalate concerns to the CALS HR Administrator or Associate Dean. Maintain expertise in various software applications, including PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin. Hold regular office hours, on campus, to provide in person support for CALS faculty and staff.
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field and two to four years of related experience in an administrative setting required. Work experience must include at least 1 year of HR related tasks.
Proficiency with software applications used to support office functions, and familiarity with internet resources required.
Effective organizational, interpersonal, communication and writing skills required. Attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to discern and maintain confidential information required. Ability to work on a team, but also work independently.
Previous experience in Humans Resources specifically working with collective bargaining agreements related to unions. Previous experience in Higher Education. Previous experience in project management.
$60,000 to $67,000
This position is expected to work from Morrill Hall, on the UVM Campus, a minimum of two to three days per week; but may work from a remote office site within the state of Vermont for the remaining time.
A probationary period may be required, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
