The Director of Student Success Coaching leads and promotes increasing the retention rate of students by connecting students to campus resources and helping students set and achieve academic, career, and personal goals. Leads the Student Success Coaches in providing incoming students access to ongoing coaching from staff that maintain university-wide and college-specific knowledge to ensure the success of ASUN's student populations. This includes supporting students in the development of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs they will need to succeed. Coordinates, implements, and assesses the Division of Student Success Coaching (SSC). The Director supervises the SSC team, which is a vital component to increasing the retention rate of incoming students at ASUN. With a commitment to continuous improvement, the Director collaborates closely with numerous university partners-including One-Stop, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, in setting the vision, marketing the program, implementing a broad spectrum of program initiatives, and conducting outcomes assessment for a comprehensive organization serving the needs of a diverse population of students.This position reports to the Dean for Enrollment Management and is responsible for the advising and retention activities of the college.


Essential Functions

  • Provides strategic, active management of the department with the overall development, implementation, and management of the professional coaching program;
  • Within the first 6 months of employment achieve certification/credential as a student success coach trainer.
  • Creates professional development plans promoting skill acquisition and leadership capacity of staff;
  • Responsible for the efficient and effective management of the retention/advising software platform, including training faculty and staff in its most effective usage;
  • Maintain an understanding of ASUN's programs, policies, and administrative processes within assigned programs to assist advisees with understanding degree requirements, building schedules, as well as using advising tools and enrollment technology.
  • Ensure that caseload of students develop individualized academic plans that identify the student's current academic status and steps required to reach their academic goals, including working with faculty and other College personnel to determine academic interventions and available resources.
  • Monitor early alerts to ensure students are receiving timely and appropriate interventions through activities and referrals to appropriate holistic support services with the goal of preventing students from entering SAP suspension.
  • Monitor staff to ensure every student placed on SAP suspension is effectively assisted with the completion of appropriate appeals and submission of documentation and revised academic plan with the goal of helping to student to achieve a satisfactory appeal result.·Develop and build student relationships and provide coaching, mentoring, advising and support to encourage persistence and completion of academic goals in support of Student Success Coaches to ensure all students are served at each campus location.
  • Monitor the student caseload by analyzing scheduling and coaching sessions with students in multiple communication channels (e.g. in-person, phone, email, text, virtual meetings).
  • Lead regular coaching meetings and additional meetings and training related to academic advising, success coaching, system changes/updates, and overall student success.
  • Demonstrate the ability to take initiative in a fast-paced work environment and meet deadlines. Maintain positive working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds while working effectively cross functionally.
  • Assist with New Student Orientation, group advising events, and other College events as necessary.
  • Perform related duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications
.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience working with college students or comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to relate to students of diverse backgrounds and experiences and a commitment to student equity.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications and ability to use technology effectively in the execution of job duties.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling or similar.
  • Two years of experience in academic advising/coaching, student retention, or related student affairs experience.
  • Community college work experience.
