Job Description:

The Department of Computer Science at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2025. Completion of a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire.

Colgate is a vibrant, highly selective liberal arts university of 3,200 students situated in central New York state. The Department of Computer Science is evolving in exciting ways, with several recent hires and a move to a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance collaboration. Our department is engaged in cross-disciplinary initiatives like Arts, Creativity, and Innovation and Mind, Brain, and Behavior. Our students are self-driven, engaged, and have broad interests. Our faculty are committed to excellence in both teaching and research.

In addition, successful applicants are expected to demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. We seek candidates with an interest and ability to teach required courses in our curriculum and elective courses in computer science. Applicants that complement and broaden the department program-through teaching, research, or service-are preferred.

The successful candidate will be a productive scholar and teach courses in their area(s) of expertise, departmental courses, and the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. Teaching responsibilities for each semester typically consist of two course sections plus one or two accompanying labs. Faculty members have access to state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research and funding for travel, research supplies, and academic-year and summer student researchers. Salary Range or Pay Grade

$111,800 (for ABD candidates) to $115,800 (for candidates with a PhD in hand)


Campus Crime Reporting and Statistics

The Department of Campus Safety at Colgate University will provide upon request a copy of Colgate's Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This report includes statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education for the previous three years concerning reported: 1. crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Colgate University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus and 2. fires that occurred in student housing facilities. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security and fire safety, such as policies concerning sexual assault, life safety systems, and other related matters.
