Job Description

The School of Professional Studies (SPS) is seeking a Program Director to lead the launch of a pioneering part-time Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences. This role calls for a creative leader who will collaborate with SPS leadership and the Center for Life Sciences to develop forward-thinking courses, manage program logistics, and support student success. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of life sciences education at MCPHS.This is a full-time temporary position for 24 months from the start date, renewable contingent on funding and need.


 



Program Development and Management: (60%)

• Lead development of the BS degree program curriculum, ensuring it meets academic standards and industry needs, as well as preparing students for entry into the life sciences field.
• Research alternative course formats and terms to support flexibility and retention (intensive semester sessions, weekends, winter term, and hybrid modalities).
• Collaborate with faculty, curriculum committee members, and industry experts to create innovative and comprehensive course offerings.
• Work with the Dean and Assistant Dean to implement the processes and technologies needed to serve a part-time, non-traditional student population.
• Develop program objectives, learning outcomes, and assessment methods.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the program, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Work with Assistant Dean and frontline offices at MCPHS to determine academic and enrollment policies.
• Monitor and assess program effectiveness, adjusting to improve quality and outcomes.
• Recruit, hire, and mentor faculty members, ensuring they are aligned with the program’s goals and standards.


 



Student Success and Industry Engagement: (40%)

• Work with marketing and other internal stakeholders to develop and implement student recruitment strategies to attract a diverse and talented student body.
• Provide academic advising and support to students, helping them achieve their educational and career goals.
• Address student concerns and facilitate a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Integrate feedback from industry stakeholders to ensure the program remains relevant and aligned with workforce needs.
• Organize experiential learning opportunities for students.
• Report regularly to the Assistant Dean and other institutional leadership on program progress and outcomes.
• Contributes to sustaining and enhancing an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements


Required:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in life sciences field such as pharmacy, biotech, academia, or healthcare
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities; strong analytical skills
• Strong leadership and collaborative skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment





Preferred:

• Master’s degree in related field or in education/higher education.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a higher education setting with an adult, part-time, or online student population.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or advising students.
• Hands-on experience with Colleague or other large, integrated student information systems, Elevate and/or Salesforce is helpful.


 



Physical Requirements:

• Standing, sitting, manual dexterity, ability to move between classrooms, offices and floors of buildings
• Ability to be physically in attendance at designated worksites and events during scheduled work hours and occasionally on evenings or weekends.
• Normal range of vision and hearing (with or without correction).
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
