Position Description

Manages and directs the day to day operations of a research center/institute or medium sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.

Major/Essential Functions

• Oversees the nursing functions of a health facility, including direct and indirect supervision of a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week health system.


• Coordinates medical providers' schedule availability and medical services operations to ensure patients' access-to-care is timely and appropriate.


• Coordinates dental providers' schedule availability and medical services operations to ensure patients' access-to-care is timely and appropriate.


• Coordinates with mental health providers to ensure access to psychiatry services and mental health counseling services are timely and appropriate.


• Establishes and manages care coordination efforts for referrals to specialty care and hospital care. Works with network providers to create mutually beneficial care pathways enhancing patients' access to care.


• Is fully responsible for the administrative and operational activities in the health facility, including fiscal responsibility, staffing, and ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and university requirements.


• Works with university departments to establish and manage health quality and compliance practices to ensure high-quality patient care, and compliance to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in healthcare systems in a leadership role.


• Must be able to pass stringent background verification.


• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary healthcare facility including nursing care, primary care, dental care, and specialty care coordination.


• Prior experience using clinical and business information systems for decision support in clinical, operational, and strategic operations.


• Prior experience in organizational leadership, building strong teams, and establishing productive workflows


• Prior experience in implementing successful strategies for integrating and overseeing teams with diverse professional backgrounds and from different disciplines.


• Nursing degree and Master's degree in business, health administration, or nursing administration preferred.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred; Six years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education beyond Bachelor's may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
