Stout's Valuation Advisory professionals help clients gain confidence by bringing clarity to the most complex valuation matters. As one of the largest independent valuation practices in the country, we provide specialized experience across a broad spectrum of industries.

Associates in the Valuation Advisory practice work on a variety of assignments, including the analysis of businesses, financial instruments and securities, and intangible assets.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Work toward developing/improving problem solving skills with an ability to identify issues in a case.

  • Work toward increasing knowledge of Business Valuation, such that less supervision by the Manager or MD is required.

  • Delegate to and supervise, and train others, both paraprofessionals and analysts, as needed.

  • Effectively communicate with clients without the MD's involvement.

  • Complete projects on a timely basis.

  • Additional administrative duties that benefit the Company,

  • Periodically participate in marketing events, as needed.

  • Pursue professional training that is relevant to the field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

An Associate must have sufficient experience in Business Valuation and/or Forensic Accounting roles, either within Stout or with an outside firm. The Associate has proven the ability to move beyond task-driven assignments by being involved in the case work plan and carrying it out accurately with less involvement of the MD. Additional skills and abilities include the following:


  • Demonstrated financial modeling experience.

  • Strong technical and analytical skills,

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills- ability to communicate technical, financial, and modeling concepts in a manner that is easily understood by clients, auditors, and internal stakeholders,

  • Relationship-focused (with clients, peers, management, etc.)

  • Excels in a team-oriented work environment.

  • Entrepreneurial

  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude

  • Shows creativity in problem-solving.

  • Accountability and ability to multi-task

  • Professional presence

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic

Education and/or Training:

  • 4-year degree necessary with an emphasis in finance, economics, or other quantitative discipline

The range for this role considers several factors including but not limited to prior work and industry experience, education level, and unique skills. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
