Job Description:

Position Summary: Astra is looking for a school based therapist for the Bardstown/Nelson County Schools! This therapist will have the primary responsibility of developing, directing, facilitating and monitoring treatment for all clients and their families assigned to their caseload. The therapist will provide daily individual therapy, family therapy (as needed) and collaborate with school personnel. Therapist shall utilize trauma-informed care frameworks and evidence-based service delivery, in addition to adherence and modeling of agency and program expectations and policies.

SCHOOL LOAN REPAYMENT

Astra is an approved site of the National Health Service Corps loan reimbursement program for licensed clinicians. Loan reimbursement distribution can be from $50,000 to $100,000 with NHSC contract for 2 to 3 years of service!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.

2) Encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.

3) Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems.

4) Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.

5) Counsel clients and patients, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.

6) Collect information about clients through interviews, observation, and tests.

7) Act as client advocates in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.

8) Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.

9) Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.

10) Evaluate clients' physical or mental condition based on review of client information.

11) Meet with families, medication providers, teachers, and other interested parties in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.

12) Refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.

13) Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients or patients.

14) Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.

15) Plan, organize and lead structured programs of counseling, work, study, recreation and social activities for clients.

16) Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to comply with changes in clients' status.

17) Learn about new developments in their field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies and maintaining required CEUs according to professional board.

18) Discuss with individual patients their plans for life after leaving therapy.

19) Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.
