POSITION SUMMARY

Manage day-to-day general and cost accounting activities in accordance with the organization's accounting policies and procedures. Functional areas include, but are not limited to: general ledger; fixed assets; financial reporting; treasury; accounts payable; accounts receivable; accounting information systems; process constraints analysis; target costing projects; margin analysis; and tracing costs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure general and costing accounting activities are completed timely and accurately including but not limited to general ledger, fixed assets, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and cost accounting
  • Produce and prepare financial reports, statements and audits, including but not limited to, reports, plans, forecasts, budgets and yearly/quarterly/monthly close
  • Ensure standard costs and bill of materials are reviewed, maintained and updated; gather accounting data including but not limited to costing information; create and update dashboards for business leaders; review data including but not limited to yields and variances; identifies root cause; recommend actions for improvement
  • Manage staff including but not limited to training, evaluation, development, and coaching personnel
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with IFRS and organizational governance, including but not limited to: treasury, general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable, and internal audit controls
  • Develop, implement and maintain physical inventory and cycle count processes; review variance analysis; ensure root cause(s) are identified and corrected
  • Identify, select and manage ongoing relationships with external consultants and advisors (e.g., accounting firms); provide support necessary to ensure meeting timelines and objectives agreed to with the professional service firms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Five (5) years' progressive general accounting or audit experience
  • One (1) year cost or accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Three (3) years' of related experience in a leadership role

License/Certifications

  • N/A

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active CPA license
  • SAP experience
  • Proficiency with Databases / SQL
  • Experience with Business Objects and Crystal Reporting

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITITES (KSA's)

  • Knowledge of general ledger, cost accounting and fixed assets
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS)
  • Proven analytical and negotiation skills with attention to details.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization; must be able to clearly articulate technical ideas to a non-technical audience both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to build professional relationships with accounting and cross functional teams while facilitating a collaborative environment
  • The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, while presenting a professional demeanor
  • Customer service skills including the ability to manage and respond to different customer situations and changing requirement while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude
  • Ability to provide training and development of team
  • Proficient with Microsoft office, including skills with Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated business acumen with knowledge and understanding of business issues, priorities, goals, and strategy

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule - 2-3 days in office
  • Able to travel up to 5% of the time, including overnight stays for up to 5 days at a time

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
