The Opportunity: My client is seeking a motivated individual to produce, underwrite, and service primary and reinsurance commercial auto accounts within their Mobility Unit. This role will involve managing individual risk insurance policies-both admitted and non-admitted-while adhering to their underwriting mandates, business appetite, and profitability goals. A focus on tech-enabled fleet risks and a curiosity about autonomous vehicle exposures is essential, along with a data-driven underwriting approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwrite, price, and monitor commercial auto insurance business to meet profitability targets.
Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with clients and production sources.
Develop and implement underwriting strategies for assigned accounts and lines of business.
Stay informed of underwriting and pricing guidelines, and utilize all relevant tools and models.
Collaborate with Product Development to create manuscript policy and contract language.
Issue policy instructions for single risk business and develop underwriting guidelines as necessary.
Work with actuaries and product development to establish rating plans and pricing tools.
Partner with marketing and broker relationship teams to enhance market presence.
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in primary commercial auto underwriting with an insurance carrier; a relevant Bachelor's degree is preferred. Knowledge of excess and surplus lines, multi-line experience, and ISO & portfolio steering is a plus.
Strong client and broker focus, with the ability to identify and address client needs effectively (existing broker network is advantageous).
Openness to utilizing advanced data analytics in underwriting and business generation; strong analytical and computer skills are essential (experience with telematics in underwriting is preferred).
Ability to think creatively and assess risks using both traditional and innovative methods, confidently making underwriting decisions based on a comprehensive evaluation of exposures.
