NSC is Private Equity-owned staffing and professional services firm rapidly growing through multiple acquisitions and organic growth. The Director of Accounting will lead day-to-day operations for the accounting function to ensure NSC's financial reporting satisfies requirements for GAAP, corporate policies, and external audits.
The ideal candidate will be meticulous about accuracy with a passion for driving continuous improvement and developing members of the team. The position requires prior accounting leadership experience in professional services with a preference for people who have previously worked in the staffing industry, experience with project accounting (e.g., fixed price projects, percent complete recognition), and experience working with NetSuite
Key Responsibilities
Lead / supervise day-to-day activities for all aspects of the accounting team for areas including recording entries, preparing reconciliations, reviewing/approving the work of staff accountants, managing the general ledger, and ensuring compliance with GAAP & NSC policies
Prepare and lead a month-end close process to meet scheduled timelines and hold all team members accountable for their responsibilities / timeline. Ensure thorough reviews are completed for all journal entries, reconciliations etc. so that formal period cutoff is observed with all revenues / expenses / balance sheet entries / etc. recognized in the proper period with no errors.
Prepare weekly & monthly Borrowing Base Certificates (BBC) for NSC's bank, review with management, upload approved BBC to the bank portal, and review as needed with stakeholders
Supervise, mentor and train all members of the accounting team to develop their skills in a variety of areas spanning accounting skills, analytical abilities, communications skills and expertise with various tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel)
Oversee Treasury activities including banking, loan funding, and payment processing
Complete audits & compliance engagements with financial statement auditors, banks, lenders and other parties while continuing NSC's track record of "clean" audits.
Continuously review accounting pronouncements to ensure NSC's full compliance with GAAP accounting as well as reporting requirements NSC's stakeholders (Board of Directors, Private Equity firm, auditors, bankers, lenders, and other stakeholders.
Lead special projects and perform analyses as required
Minimum Experience Requirements
5+ Years in a leadership position in accounting for an organization with clean financial statement audits.
Experience in professional services, preferably in staffing and experience with fixed price projects.
