About The Job:

Sentinel Capital Group LLC ("Company") is a newly formed firm seeking to take advantage of selected opportunities in the global metals mining industry. The Company is hiring a world-class, experienced Chief Investment Officer ("CIO") who has deep evaluation and capital deployment experience in mining. The CIO will work closely with the Founder in evaluating acquisitions to build out an extensive portfolio alongside an existing mining platform. This CIO should be a corporate "athlete", one that can source, underwrite/evaluate, close, and help monitor existing investments, while also having a mindset of Company growth beyond the day-to-day portfolio management and asset evaluation.

Key Responsibilities, include, but not limited to:
• Sourcing: Identify and evaluate global asset and corporate acquisitions.
• Underwriting: With a small team of mid-level and junior professionals, as well as the management of an existing mining business, rigorously evaluate each opportunity to include as a bolt-on asset. Intelligently weigh risks and returns to make informed investment decisions for the Company.
• Portfolio Management: The CIO oversees the Company's investment portfolio. The CIO leads discerning portfolio management activity with a view for asset optimization, and risk management on a mine-by-mine basis.
• Reporting: Lead monthly/quarterly/annual reporting creation and presentation to investors and the Founder.
• Team Management: The CIO manages a small team of mid, and junior-level financial resources which (s)he will mentor and lead. The CIO is the critical leader in initial investment and ongoing underwriting, business/capital decisions, and personnel development.
• Compliance: The CIO helps to ensure that the Company stays in compliance with any necessary regulatory requirements and internal controls and is informed of changing regulatory trends within the mining industry, especially with respect to existing assets.
• Investor Relations: Present investment activity and strategy, explain KPIs and other performance indicators regularly. The CIO makes recommendations to the Founder, board members and internal management stakeholders.

The Company is a small group of individuals: the ideal candidate will have a positive and proactive attitude. There is no task too large, nor too small for the CIO's involvement.

Other tasks may include:
• Some international and domestic travel.
• Conference attendance and presentation.
• Working with an internal engineer during all portions of fundamental work.
• Working with internal and external counsel as needed for legal matters including structuring and contract negotiation.

Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree. Masters Degree is a plus but not necessary given a long tenure in the industry.
• Candidates with a mining engineering degree will be prioritized.
• 20+ years of investment/capital management experience with an emphasis on mining and natural resources. Candidates should be able to show demonstrable operational improvements and/or a strong track record in mining investments.
• A deep understanding of metals markets, mine reserve analysis & evaluation and strong analytical abilities.
• Academic excellence at the undergraduate and graduate level.
• Exemplary attention to detail and analytical skills. The CIO can quickly evaluate complex data and situations, gain actionable insights and craft subsequent strategy.
• Strong presentation skills. The CIO conveys complicated business concepts and recommendations to a range of audiences.
• Expertise in financial software and other tools for financial and operational analysis and asset monitoring.

Compensation:

Compensation will be attractive and will be comprised of a base salary, bonus, health benefits and a compelling carry/profit share in the Company.
