The Senior Tax Manager at our public accounting firm will oversee and manage the tax compliance, planning, and reporting for a diverse client base. This role involves developing tax strategies, ensuring tax compliance, and providing tax planning services to optimize clients' tax positions. The Senior Tax Manager will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and supporting the overall tax function within the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement tax strategies that align with clients' financial goals.
Advise clients on tax implications of business decisions and strategies.
Identify and manage tax risks and opportunities, ensuring clients remain compliant while optimizing their tax positions.
Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns for clients.
Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
Manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors on behalf of clients.
Supervise the tax accounting process for clients, including the preparation of tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of tax information in clients' financial statements.
Collaborate with clients' finance teams to ensure alignment of tax and accounting treatments.
Manage and coordinate tax audits for clients, including preparation of necessary documentation and responses to inquiries.
Negotiate with tax authorities on behalf of clients.
Lead and mentor the tax team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.
Develop and maintain a high level of expertise within the team through ongoing training and professional development.
Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring clients adapt to new requirements.
Implement processes and systems to ensure ongoing compliance with tax regulations for clients.
Provide tax-related support for clients' business initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, international expansion, and other strategic projects.
Conduct tax research and analysis to support clients' business decisions and transactions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax, with significant experience in a leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Strong experience in tax compliance, planning, and strategy.
