Taylor Hopkinson is seeking a highly qualified Head of Origination and Execution for one of the world's largest privately-owned renewable energy companies, backed by a Pension and Investment fund. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in origination, M&A, tax equity, and project finance execution, along with strong analytically abilities and in-depth knowledge of the US renewable energy market. This role requires a leader who can set the standard for the team while managing a small group of less experienced Origination & Execution professionals.
The candidate should take on direct responsibility for origination and execution while fostering a culture of autonomy within the team. This position is based in Austin, Texas, with a hybrid work arrangement. The ideal candidate will be a team builder who employs a collaborative management style to maximise the potential of a talented team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team responsible for originating and executing new investment opportunities in the USA.
Develop and nurture relationships to secure bilateral deals and generate new business opportunities.
Execute approved deals efficiently, ensuring the delivery of expected business outcomes.
Raise tax equity and project finance for projects.
Focus on value creation by identifying and securing value-accredit opportunities.
Manage the sale and disposition of assets.
Prepare and present deals to the Investment Committee and provide support during Board meetings.
Efficiently allocate deal flow to align with the evolving demands of the business.
Collaborate with global leadership to ensure adequate resourcing for origination and execution activities in the USA.
Ensure thorough evaluation of new opportunities.
Maintain strong communication with functional heads and teams.
Directly generate new investment opportunities.
Ensure accurate reporting of pipeline and opportunity evaluations to global leadership.
Hire, train, and develop new employees.
Participate in the US Executive Committee, providing comprehensive insights into the business.
Key Requirements:
Extensive experience in renewable energy deal origination and execution in the USA, including both greenfield and brownfield assets, financial analysis, tax equity, project financing and M&A.
Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
Strong understanding of investment strategy and key drivers of investment decisions.
Knowledge of risks and challenges associated with projects at various life cycle stages, such as development, construction, and operation, with a holistic view of potential issues that can impact projects.
